welcome to my kitchen

Lookin’ for inspo with tools in my back pocket

Welcome to Kate's Kitchen Online - you guessed it, my name is Kate. As the name explains you’ve now entered my kitchen in the digital realm. So come on in, get comfortable, and put your learning pants on (maybe grab a snack - I recommend a nice aged cheddar with cut up Gala apple).

I love to cook on a whim and when I started sharing my creations through social media I was getting requests for the recipes I was using. Turns out I don’t use any (and I had a larger feat in front of me then forwarding off a Pinterest recipe). The positive responses from friends (and strangers) led me to the launch of this website and my instagram page @kateskitchenonline.

Where I started

I spend a few moments each day, dreaming about the ingredients I have at home and how I can pair them together to create something healthy and delicious. No cookbooks needed. But I’m no fool, this isn’t an easy task, it’s taken me years in the kitchen to develop my pairing abilities and nurture my creativity when it comes to new and quality ideas in the kitchen.

I recognized through talking with friends, whose kitchen skills vary, that the part they struggled most with was coming up with things to cook. Many can plan a recipe with exact ingredients and measurements - follow it- and come out with great results. It may be challenging to think of creative ways to utilize the food you have, but why limit yourself within the restrictions of a recipe? It’s much harder to cook on a whim when you can only cook by the book. I’m here to not only share some of my kitchen creations, but also to provide you with the tools (check out the Kitchen Tips Page) to get creative and cook off-book!

Food is not boring. Food is fun. And you can learn to enjoy your time cooking while simultaneously fuelling yourself with healthy and sustainable meals. Talk about multi-tasking.

FOOD COMES FIRST

My inspiration for a Kate’s Kitchen Online came through countless frustrations with the existing formats of most food blogs. I found myself exasperated scrolling through twenty seven paragraphs of romantic prose about the autumn leaves when all I really wanted was to get to the recipe. I’ve created quick, engaging, and easy to follow recipes that come first, easily found at the forefront of my website.

If you are a fan of the dialogue (I am - I just want the food first damnit!) found in classic food blog formats- don’t fret! There will be plenty of that on my blog page, where I will share with you my 27 years of learning both in the kitchen and outside of it. Because why should you have to make all of the same mistakes when I’ve done it for you?

THANK YOU

I want to say the biggest thank you to everyone who has been giving positive feedback from the very first food inspired posts (YEARS ago) all the way up until the launch of this website. Your comments and feedback are the reason I started dedicating more of my energy and focus towards creating something that I am proud of. You helped me see the value in what I was doing and that encouraged me to share it. I also need to acknowledge the person who recognized, encouraged, and inspired my abilities - @blairejo (give her a follow you won’t be upset) - from the very beginning. Thank you for believing in me, thank you for your non-stop support, thank you for generating my following with the first ever #kate’skitchen callout. You are to thank for this.

STAY FRESH
